Ballot Statement:

Globalization is a reality, not a choice.  The job of IEEE-USA is to help IEEE members who live in the United States thrive in this environment.

We must, through advocacy and targeted programs, work to

  • Assure that American engineering jobs are abundant, by enhancing the competitiveness of America’s high-tech industry through an environment that stimulates greater innovation;
  • Increase the number of American engineers available and equipped to fill American engineering jobs, by improving science and math education,  attracting young men and women to engineering careers, and making engineering education uniformly strong and affordable;
  • Assist practicing engineers in the development of their careers through continuing education, skill-building programs, and career-related resources; and
  • Assure that public investments in science, technology, and education are strong and serve to further these goals.

IEEE-USA is widely respected as a voice and resource for America’s electrical and electronics engineers.   But the pace of globalization requires that we do more, and resources are limited.  We must become more effective and more efficient, and find additional sources of support.  If you choose me to become President, I will enthusiastically tackle these challenges.
